In the victory over Everton for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo reached another another milestone in his brilliant career by scoring his 700th club goal.
The 37-year-old Portuguese forward now has 144 goals for United across his two periods at the club.
He scored five goals for Sporting Lisbon, 101 for Juventus, and 450 for Real Madrid.
Ronaldo only has two goals this year after scoring his 699th goal against FC Sheriff in the Europa League in September. That goal came on Sunday at Goodison Park.
When Anthony Martial went down with an injury in the 29th minute of the Everton game, Ronaldo entered the game from the bench. He scored the game-winning goal 15 minutes later as United moved up 2-1.
Both Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and Everton manager Frank Lampard were impressed by the forward’s accomplishments.
“It is outstanding, one of the greatest players that has graced the game in an era when we have had himself and Messi,” said Lampard.
“The comparison doesn’t matter, they are both incredible players in football history. The numbers they have racked up… abnormal numbers that have become normal. When he was on 699, I wanted him to score in the Europa League the other night.”
Ten Hag, who has mostly used Ronaldo from the bench this season, added: “That is really impressive, when you score 700 goals, it’s a huge performance.
