Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ready to leave Manchester United if the team fails to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, according to The Sun.
Last summer, the 36-year-old returned to Old Trafford and has since picked up where he left off. He is the club’s leading scorer and has come to our rescue several times this season. It’s an understatement to say he’s returned to a different side than the one he left in 2009.
The Red Devils are no longer the forerunners of English football domination, and have devolved into a team that strives to finish in the top four year after year. The team has also not to win a trophy since 2017 and does not look to be much closer this season.
Man United are now in seventh place in the Premier League, 24 points behind the league leaders. Despite having two games in hand, the quality and expectations at Old Trafford have dropped significantly.
In an explosive interview last week, Ronaldo did not mince words in his criticism of the club. He voiced dissatisfaction with the club’s present predicament and even hinted at terminating his two-year contract if things did not change.
