On Sunday afternoon, during Manchester United’s Premier League match against Newcastle, Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to score one of the cheekiest goals of the season.
Before putting the ball into the open net, the Portuguese superstar snatched the ball away from Newcastle’s goalkeeper.
Pope had a free kick available for Newcastle, but Ronaldo insisted that he had already taken it. The goal was disallowed by the official, Craig Pawson, who also sent Man Utd’s number 7 a yellow card.
It was technically live and in play if Pope or any Newcastle player touched the ball. Ronaldo and his teammates continued to play because they were certain that the free kick had been taken.
However, the referee took Pope’s side and disallowed Ronaldo’s sneaky goal.
