Colin Farrell to reprise his role as The Penguin in new Batman spin-off TV series

Colin Farrell is returning to the DC Comics universe.

Following his strong performance as the Penguin in the newly released The Batman, the Irish actor has been cast in a straight-to-series thriller tailored to the wicked character.

HBO Max has officially picked up the much awaited show.

The Batman, featuring Robert Pattinson as Batman, was a box office success.
Since its release in cinemas, the dark thriller has grossed about $250 million.

The TV show will dive more into the origins of the Penguin, whose true name is Oswald Cobblepot, or Oz for short, and the nefarious ways he manipulates Gotham.

The 45-year-old actor will serve as an executive producer on the film with director Matt Reeves.

‘Colin exploded off the screen as the Penguin in The Batman,’ said the director, ‘and having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill.’

Signing on to the film might mean spending a lot more time in the cosmetics chair for the father of two.

The Golden Globe winner, who is famed for his leading man features, was unrecognizable as the scarred and dumpy underworld figure thanks to prosthetics and a padded suit.

Every day, the transition took around 3 hours, and director Reeves stated he seldom saw Colin as himself throughout the production because to the lengthy process and Covid precautions.
