Coachella is auctioning off 10 lifetime festival passes as NFTs

Coachella is introducing non-fungible tokens as a new means to enter the festival. The first set of collectible NFTs was released on Tuesday, and it comprises 10-lifetime passes to the event in the form of a digital “Coachella Key.”

According to a press release, individuals who win will be able to attend the festival (and “Coachella-produced virtual experiences”) every April “forever,” thanks to a partnership with FTX. Along with the lifetime passes, purchasers will enjoy a VIP experience at this year’s festival, including the opportunity to watch performances from the stage and dine at the festival’s Rose Garden with a famous chef.

10 “fan-favorite Coachella photos and soundscapes” accompanied with a tangible art print, and 10 vintage digital posters accompanied by a Coachella photo book are among the other NFTs slated to be offered by the event. The NFT auction will begin at 1 p.m. ET on Friday. A percentage of the earnings will go to Give Directly, Lideres Campesinas, and FIND Food Bank, among other non-profits.

Coachella 2022 is set to be headlined by Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, and Kanye West, who recently spoke out against NFTs. The rapper said he wanted no part in them. “My focus is on building real products in the real world. Real food. Real clothes. Real shelter,” he said on Monday. “Do not ask me to do a f*cking NFT.”
