In addition to Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Idris Elba, and others, Chris Evans has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2022.
Evans accepted the honor graciously and expressed his excitement for his mother to learn that her son had received such a honor.
“My mom will be so happy,” Evans, 41, told People. “She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.”
He continued by acknowledging that the whole thing was a little strange and that he would look back on being named the Sexiest Man Alive when he was older.
“This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about,” he said. “It feels like a weird form of humble bragging…It’s something that as I become old and saggy I can look back on and say ‘I remember then…I’m lucky to be in the discussion in any capacity.”
People then followed up with Evans’ mother, Lisa, who said she was indeed proud of her son. “I am not surprised at all,” she told the outlet. “Our family will be beside themselves.”
For the upcoming Apple TV+ movie Ghosted, starring Ana de Armas from Knives Out, Evans and de Armas will soon work together once more. The Captain America lead actor has been hard at work relaxing in the meantime.
