Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Romelu Lukaku for a club record fee of £97.5 million from Inter on a five-year deal.
It’s the second highest British transfer fee paid after Manchester City signed Jack Grealish for £100m from Aston Villa.
Lukaku’s return to Chelsea means that he is the player with the most transfer fees spent on in history with a combined figure of £290m spent on him.

The Belgian striker left Chelsea in 2014 after joining from Anderlecht in 2011, moving to Everton for £28m. Three years later, Manchester United signed for £73m, before joining Inter in 2019 for £74m.
“I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature,” Lukaku told the club’s website.
“I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling.”
