Chelsea may now sell tickets for the Champions League and FA Cup, but not for the Premier League, despite away fans being able to do so.
This comes after it was claimed that they were close to finalizing a solution to their ticket ban.
According to the Associated Press, the terms of the license will now allow Champions League tickets to be sold again, with UEFA collecting the proceeds.
In addition, Chelsea supporters will be permitted to attend the FA Cup semi-final versus Crystal Palace at Wembley, with all earnings going to the competition’s organizers.
Away supporters will be able to buy tickets for games at Stamford Bridge, and because of the loosening of limitations, Chelsea will not earn any money from ticket sales.
Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston confirmed the changes to the licence: “The Government has made alterations to the licence to Chelsea FC so that fans will be able to access tickets to away matches, cup games and women’s fixtures.”
If Chelsea is sold, as Raine is doing now as he reviews offers before settling on a shortlist early this week, a new license will be issued and Chelsea will be allowed to resume normal ticket sales, although this might take longer than planned.
The present modifications are expected to remain in place until Chelsea finds a new owner, with ticket sales returning to normal in the future if one is found.
