According to Guillem Balague, Chelsea and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle for the striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that is for £12 million plus defender Marcus Alonso.
After moving from Arsenal to Barcelona in January, Aubameyang scored 13 goals in 24 games for the Spanish club.
Although he has only played eight minutes this season, his contract included a buyout clause worth 100 million euros (£83.4 million).
The 33-year-old would be Chelsea’s seventh acquisition of the summer.
The Blues also acquired English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20 million, Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for £34 million, Spain left-back Marc Cucurella from Brighton for £60 million, and Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan for a combined fee of around £70 million.
A deal for Aubameyang would result in Todd Boehly, the chairman of Chelsea, spending about £250 million in his first transfer window after purchasing the team from Roman Abramovich.
