Britney Spears revealed she is expecting her third child in an Instagram post.
The singer, who recently ended a contentious conservatorship overseen by her father, said she took a test after partner Sam Asghari taunted her about being “food pregnant” in an instagram post.
“So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby,” she wrote. “4 days later I got a little more food pregnant.”
In her post, she also noted her prior pregnancies’ perinatal depression, which she described as “absolutely horrible.”
“Thank Jesus, we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret,” she said, praising the fact that women are now more able to speak about it.
Spears, 40, has two children from her former marriage to Kevin Federline, Sean and Jayden.
Following her announcement, the pop star, who has been pursued by the media, claimed she “won’t be going out much.”
The pregnancy announcement came after a 13-year conservatorship over Spears’ life was lifted in November by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
She was placed under the complicated legal arrangement in 2008 due to substance misuse and mental health difficulties, but she claims it stopped her from having further children.
