Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’ Tops Weekend Box Office With $32.4 Million Opening

According to Variety, Sony’s Bullet Train, which stars Brad Pitt, topped this weekend’s American box office with a $32.4 million opening.

The David Leitch-directed action movie, which cost $90 million to produce and made more than $60 million internationally, however, fell short of critics’ and audience’s expectations.

“A big film like this with lot of expectations should have had stronger debut,” Jeff Bock, senior media analyst with Exhibitor Relations, told Variety. “That said, there’s not a lot of competition in August, so Bullet Train should have a good window to make its mark in the coming weeks.”

Top Gun: Maverick proceeded to set several records at the box office. With a total of $662 million, the wildly popular sequel officially passed Titanic to rank as the 7th most earning film in American box office history. The movie is still by far the largest of the year, even if its numbers have plainly declined since its May premiere. As the fall approaches, it should continue to rise up the all-time list.
