Lionel Messi has been sensationally threatened by multiple world boxing champion Canelo Alvarez after the iconic footballer was accused of disrespecting the Mexican flag.

On Saturday, Messi turned in a Man of the Match performance as Argentina defeated Mexico 2-0 to advance to the 2022 World Cup.

The 35-year-old, who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, gave Argentina a 1-0 lead with a spectacular goal from outside the box. Later, he assisted Enzo Fernandez to further increase the South American’s lead.

Later, video of Argentina’s joyful changing room celebrations surfaced.

The defending champions of the Copa America needed to win this match after shocking Saudi Arabia 2-1 last week.

In response to one specific celebration video, Alvarez charged Messi with disrespecting a Mexico shirt or flag.

In a series of tweets, per the Daily Mail, Alvarez wrote: “Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag.

“He better pray to God that I don’t find him.

“Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico!

“I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”
