Bill and Melinda Gates have filed for divorce after 27 years of marriage with both confirming the news confirmed on Twitter on Monday.
The two will continue their philanthropic work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which they founded in 2000. The foundation’s incentives are to improve public health, education, and strive towards improving climate change.
Two years ago, the organisation held $43 billion [€35.7 billion] in net assets, with $36 billion [€29.9 billion] coming from the then couple themselves between 1994 to 2018. There were also recent grants of $1.75 billion [€1.45 billion] to develop vaccines and research to tackle the current coronavirus pandemic.
