Big Wan, a rising Wisconsin rapper, was reportedly killed in a Milwaukee shooting on Friday (November 26). He was 19 years old.
The death of the teen is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. According to a police complaint, Wan, born Dawan Turner, was shot at 9:05 a.m. on Friday morning. Authorities are currently seeking information.
Wan was residing with his mother and grandmother, according to Hilda Alayeto, a close family acquaintance. According to the Journal Sentinel, he was in an upset bedroom when the shooting occurred.
Big Wan was named a prominent role in Milwaukee’s developing rap scene by Pitchfork earlier this year, who described him as “behind some of the most enjoyable rap in a city that has no shortage of it right now.”
According to the Journal Sentinel, manager Will Norton, better known as Bagzz, remarked, “He was just so humble.”“He just picked up on everything and he never disagreed. He listened. He was just focused on really making it.”
