Beyoncé Drops New Single ‘Break My Soul’

“Break My Soul,” Beyoncé’s new single, has been released.

JAY-Z, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, and BlaqNmilD co-wrote “Break My Soul,” which samples both Robin S.’s 1993 house song “Show Me Love” and Big Freedia’s “Explode.” It’s likely the first taste of Queen Bey’s eighth solo album, Renaissance, which will be released on July 29th.

Beyoncé informed fans of the forthcoming release of “Break My Soul” by simply altering her Instagram account, like she did when she announced Renaissance last week. “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET,” it now says. (It’s reasonable to believe that the song’s position on the album’s tracklist is No. 6.)

Renaissance is Beyoncé’s eighth solo album, and her first since 2016’s explosive Lemonade. Everything Is Love, Beyoncé and JAY-joint Z’s album, was released in 2018, and Queen Bey followed it up with The Lion King companion album, The Lion King: The Gift, in 2019. She released a one-off single called “Black Parade” in 2020, and she donated the song “Be Alive” to the film King Richard last year.
