Benjamin Mendy, a French footballer, has been accused with two further counts of rape

The Crown Prosecution Service has stated that Manchester City forward Benjamin Mendy has been charged with two more charges of rape.

The Crown Prosecution Service stated in a statement that Cheshire police had been given permission to prosecute Mendy with two further charges of rape and Louis Saha Matturie, 40, with two more counts of rape and one act of sexual assault.

Defender Mendy, 27, is now charged with six charges of rape and one act of sexual assault, and he is still being held in detention.

The allegations are said to have occurred between October 2020 and August 2021 and include four complainants over the age of 16.

In 2017, the France international joined Premier League winners Manchester City on a reported £52 million fee from Monaco.

After he was first charged, the club suspended the left-back in August.

“The matter is subject to a legal process,” the club said at the time, “and the Club is thus unable to make an additional comment until that process is completed.”

On November 17, Mendy of Prestbury, Cheshire, and Matturie of Eccles will appear before Stockport Magistrates’ Court.

Matturie has been charged with four charges of rape and one act of sexual assault in the past.
