Barcelona star Ronald Araujo leaves pitch in ambulance after head clash with Gavi

 

 

After suffering a severe head injury against Celta Vigo on Tuesday, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo was rushed to the hospital.

 

In the 61st minute, the Uruguay international went up for a header with teammate Gavi, leaving the midfielder on the ground.

Araujo appeared to be in good health at first and ran off, but suddenly collapsed on the field, prompting the teammates to call for medical help.

After an ambulance came, Araujo was stretchered into the back and brought to the hospital. Because to the event, the game was halted for over ten minutes.

Barcelona has announced through Twitter that the defender has sustained a concussion and will be sent to the hospital for additional examinations.

 

At the time of the event, Barcelona was ahead 3-1.

Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored in the first half to give the home team a two-goal advantage.

Just after the interval, Aubameyang scored his second, only for Celta’s Iago Aspas to cut the gap to two goals once more.

There were no further goals as Barca maintained their two-goal lead.
