Barcelona reach agreement for Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski

The president of Bayern Munich says that Barcelona and Bayern Munich have a “verbal agreement” to recruit Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old informed Bayern last month that he wants to quit the club with one year remaining on his contract.

In 46 games last season, Lewandowski scored 50 goals, helping Bayern win the Bundesliga for the tenth consecutive year.

“It’s good to have clarity for all parties,” said Bayern president Herbert Hainer.

“We have come to a verbal agreement with Barcelona.

“Robert is an incredible player and he won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him.”

Lewandowski, who transferred to Bayern from Borussia Dortmund free of charge in 2014, is the club’s second-highest scorer all-time with 344 goals in 374 games, trailing only Gerd Muller.

In addition to helping the Bavarians win the Champions League in 2019–20, the Pole has led Bayern to league titles in each of his eight seasons there.
