Barbie Ferreira Announces Her Exit from HBO’s Euphoria

On Wednesday, Barbie Ferreira announced her departure from the popular HBO series via her Instagram Stories.

“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye,” she wrote. “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like i did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. i put all my care and love into her and i hope you guys could feel it. love you katherine hernandez.”

Her announcement follows an interview with Insider in which she was questioned regarding a rumored argument with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson during Season 2 filming.

“What’s interesting about this season is there are so many more eyes on it that even the news cycle has been so interesting to see,” the 25-year-old said. “I’ve seen so many different things and a lot of it is untrue and some of it’s kind of like mundane little things.”

According to a Daily Beast article, Ferreira and Levinson had a falling out about the direction of Ferreira’s character, and Ferreira allegedly left the set. Anyone who watched Season 2 would agree that Kat was scarcely noticeable compared to the first season, where her path to self-discovery played out front and center. The Euphoria director supposedly responded by reducing her screen time.
