Avatar 4 has begun production, confirms director James Cameron

Avatar 4 production has started, according to James Cameron’s announcement at the D23 Expo.

The director also said that Avatar 3 is still being filmed and that Avatar: The Way of Water, the eagerly anticipated sequel, is currently in post-production.

He hinted to guests that Avatar: The Way of Water is “going well” and that it looked “spectacular.” He added, “I’m super excited to be finally finishing up movie two. I know everyone has been waiting a long time. Hopefully, we’ll show something today, and you can decide if it’s been worth it.”

The sequel’s 3D visuals that showed off the lush and lovely planet the Na’vi live in were shown to attendees. Additionally, there was a video of Dr. Grace Augustine, played by Sigourney Weaver, swimming in the clip.

Additionally, Cameron provided first glances at the action sequences from the film, such as the battle in Pandora’s forest. The movie also teases some drama with scenes showing the conflict between the Na’vi and Neytiri and Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, respectively.

Avatar: The Way of Water will premiere on December 16, 2022, and Avatar 4 will probably air on December 18, 2026. Cameron is reissuing the original Avatar film in theaters concurrently with the release of the sequel.
