At auction, a Kanye West-signed Donda Vest and a one-of-one NFT sold for $75,000

At a recent Christie’s auction, a bulletproof Donda vest alleged to have been worn by Kanye West at his album-shaping performance art event in Atlanta in August sold for $75,000.

The widely publicized sale included two items: a one-of-a-kind NFT and a vest embossed with a hand-painted Donda emblem and signed by Ye to read MBD (i.e. My Body Different). Ethernity released the latter on Nov. 11 as a “digital representation” of the vest worn at the Aug. 5 performance art experience.

The vest and NFT set were auctioned off as part of Christie’s larger Handbags x HYPE: the Luxury Remix sale, which also saw a whole collection of Off-White Nikes sell for $62,500 and a pair of Yeezy 350s sell for $37,500. Meanwhile, as part of the Handbags x HYPE auction, a Supreme-branded pinball game went for $52,500. The total amount raised by the curated auction was $2.9 million.

Justin Reed, the owner of a consignment shop, talked with GQ in late August about offering a Donda vest on his e-commerce site. As previously reported, the vest eventually sold for $20,000 and was alleged to have been given to a security guard as a present by Ye.

Of course, the exorbitant cost of such things doesn’t come as a surprise. Much was published in 2015, for example, about supposed bags of air from Ye concerts being sold on eBay.
