Barcelona has agreed to have Spotify as its new sponsor for the next four years. They also obtained the title rights to their stadium in the process, which will be renamed Spotify Camp Nou beginning next season.
The two parties have teamed together to create a unique experience by combining football and music, and the new stadium will incorporate cutting-edge technology to promote musicians.
A new catch in the transaction has been revealed by SPORT. According to reports, the names of other musicians from across the world might appear on the Barcelona jersey instead of the Spotify logo in an effort to give tribute to them.
Shakira, The Weeknd, Justin Beiber, and BTS are among the acts mentioned in the report.
This sort of agreement isn’t unusual. In fact, during Atletico Madrid’s 2003-2005 partnership with Columbia Pictures, their shirts were utilized as a billboard to advertise the studio’s films such as Spiderman 2, Peter Pan, Anaconda, Hitch, and others.
In comparison to 2003, however, this sort of agreement would elicit a very different reaction from fans. It would undoubtedly help musicians reach a wider audience, as well as promote Barcelona to the artist’s following base.
🚨 The partnership between Barcelona and Spotify will transform the shirt "into a space that can pay tribute to different artists from around the world."
