Alex Albon, a Williams driver, will miss the Italian Grand Prix due to appendicitis.
Nyck de Vries, a reserve driver for Mercedes, will take the place of the British-Thai.
According to a Williams statement, Albon sought medical attention on Saturday morning after feeling ill.
According to team president Jost Capito, the issue was discovered in its early stages, therefore Albon’s health was not in risk.
Albon was “fine,” according to Capito, after speaking with him.
Williams will assess the issue following this weekend’s race, but Capito stated that he anticipated Albon to be ready to compete in Singapore two weeks from now.
Albon posted on Twitter from hospital saying: “Appendicitis, surgery and no racing isn’t what I was expecting this weekend.”
