Albuquerque to unveil statues of Breaking Bad’s Walter White and Jesse Pinkman

Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from the tv series Breaking Bad have received “larger-than-life” bronze statues, according to NBC affiliate KOB.

Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, commissioned Trevor Grove to create the statues in 2019, and he recently donated them to the city that helped bring the iconic duo to life. “Over the course of fifteen years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us,” Gilligan said in a press release. “I wanted to return the favor and give something back.”

The statues’ unveiling will take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center on July 29. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who played Walter and Jesse, respectively, are expected to make an appearance at a game the next day for the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate team of the Colorado Rockies. They are anticipated to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and toss out the ceremonial first pitch.

“We also appreciate that the statues will be indoors, and therefore protected from pigeons depositing their critiques on our heads,” Cranston and Paul jokingly said in a joint statement.
