After contracting Covid, Sebastian Vettel is still a doubt for Aston Martin in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel of Aston Martin has yet to get a COVID-19 negative test that will let him to compete in this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Formula One Grand Prix, according to the team.

After testing positive, the four-time world champion missed the season opening in Bahrain last weekend, and was replaced by reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg.

Hulkenberg will be on standby for the race in Jeddah, according to Aston Martin.

“Sebastian Vettel has not yet returned the required negative COVID test to fly to the #SaudiArabiaGP,” Aston Martin said on Twitter.

“Nico Hulkenberg will be in Jeddah to deputise for Seb if necessary. We will delay our final decision until Friday to provide Seb every opportunity to race.”

In Bahrain, Hulkenberg finished 17th, while Lance Stroll finished 12th.
