After a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith smacks Chris Rock on the Oscar stage

 

 

Will Smith stormed the Oscars stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife, in a moment that went viral and left astonished spectators wondering if it was staged or real.

 

On Sunday, when presenting the best documentary award with a brief comedic routine, Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s sharply chopped hair and suggested she appear in a sequel, comparing her to Demi Moore’s cameo in the film “G.I. Jane.”

 

Smith rushed over to Rock and slapped him before returning to his seat with Jada and shouted profanities, eliciting awkward stillness and uncertainty in the Dolby Theatre.

 

“Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth,” yelled Smith, forcing the producers to bleep out several seconds of audio from the televised broadcast in the United States.
