The Qatari team had previously stated that its 41-year-old manager would not be permitted to leave.
Xavi, who played 779 games for Barca and won 25 titles, had stated publicly that he wished to “go home” as manager of the club and that a deal might be achieved.
The release clause in Xavi’s contract has been paid, according to Al Sadd.
In 2015, the former Spain international joined Al Sadd as a player after winning the World Cup and two European Championships with Barcelona.
