A ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’ Movie Is In The Works

The eighth movie in the Harry Potter series, Deathly Hallows Part 2, which also served as the series’ finale, came out twelve years ago. Three prequels to the Fantastic Beasts trilogy, which JK Rowling had originally intended to be a five-part series, have since been produced by Warner Bros. The studio is unsure about the series’ future, meanwhile, as a result of Secrets of Dumbledore’s underwhelming box office results from the previous year.

The CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, recently said he plans to concentrate on franchises in the future and emphasized how well-received the studio’s first Harry Potter movies were. A month later, renowned leaker WDW Pro tweeted that the studio planned to resurrect the original film franchise with a new cast in the ensuing three to five years.

Also, there appear to be plans to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the 2016 West End stage performance. The story begins with the 19 Years Later epilogue seen at the end of Deathly Hallows and follows Albus and Scorpius Malfoy’s adventures as they grow up to be close friends. Albus and Scorpius are the children of Draco Malfoy and Harry.

Within the next 5-7 years, the play’s original stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson will grow old enough to play their characters, and Warner Bros now owns the play’s rights.

According to a new report in The Sun’s source: “Warner Bros is currently looking at how to bring The Cursed Child to the big screen. It has been in their sights since the play proved to be so popular in the West End. It went onto the backburner for a while because there was so much work going on with the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

“A line has been temporarily drawn on that for now, especially given its lacklustre performance, so it’s full steam ahead when it comes to developing The Cursed Child. At the moment it is in very formative stages and they are discussing the next steps to move it forward.”
