Manchester United confirms the return of Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on a two-year deal in a €25m move from Juventus.

Ronaldo departed Turin earlier on Friday where he had said his goodbye to his teammates with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri confirming the forward’s exit.

Manchester City were offered the chance to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner but decided to pull out of negotiations on Friday.

In a transfer window that has seen an abundance of world class players switch clubs, including Lionel Messi joining Paris Saint-Germain, Ronaldo is now on his way back to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese captain left United for Real Madrid in 2008 having signed for the Premier League club in 2003. In his five years at the club, Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games.
