Chelsea have had their latest bid for Romelu Lukaku worth £85m plus Marcos Alonso rejected by Inter Milan.
As reported by Sky Sports, the Champions League winners were told it would take an offer of over £85m to entice the Serie A champions to sell Lukaku.
The Belgian was instrumental in helping Inter win their first Italian top-flight title in 11 years, scoring 24 goals and thriving with Antonio Conte as the club’s manager.
However, with Conte departing at the end of last season and Inter needing to reduce their wage bill, there have been questions surrounding the 28-year-old’s future.
Despite these factors, it is understood that Lukaku is happy at Inter and ready to help the team next season having returned to team training.
It’s no secret that Chelsea have been looking to add a world class striker to the bolster their attack with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane linked with the Blues this summer.
It appears that Lukaku has now returned to the top of Chelsea’s shortlist as a potential move would see him return to south-west London after leaving the club to join Everton in 2014 for £28m.
