Damon Dash has hit back at Jay-Z by calling him a “liar” and a “bully” for filing a lawsuit alleging he’s attempting to snatch and sell the rights to “Reasonable Doubt”, the artist’s debut album.
Dash, Kareem Burke, and Jay-Z all founded Roc-A-Fella records in 1995 as the former is now being sued by the latter in New York’s Southern District Court. Jay has accused Dash of stealing the album on SuperFarm, a digital marketplace, and selling it as an NFT without his consent.
Reasonable Doubt ended up selling more than a million units in the album which launched Jay-Z’s career back in 1996. However, Dash is adamant that he has every right to sell his share as he owns a third of Roc-A-Fella.
He exclusively told Page Six of Jay’s lawsuit, “He lying. That’s a whole lie. Jay owns one-third of ‘Reasonable Doubt.’
“They just said that I tried to sell an NFT of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and … it’s not true. I’m not running around to different places trying to auction off ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ I’ve been working with one platform and that’s SuperFarm.
“And the thing is I own a third of Roc-A-Fella Records and I can sell my third if I feel like it.”
