Ellen DeGeneres revealed to her viewers that she will be ending her long-running TV show after the broadcast of its 19th season in 2022.
In a new episode of the show, DeGeneres said as quoted by the BBC, “I truly have felt like next season was the right time”.
The 63-year-old didn’t mention reports of a toxic work environment at the show in her monologue as she states that the decision to end the show came before the scandal was drawn into the public eye.
“Two years ago, I signed a deal for three more years and I always knew in my heart that season 19 would be my last.”
The Ellen DeGeneres has been on screen since September 2003, with over 3,000 episodes being aired.
