Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been found dead in a hotel room in Florida, aged 38.
Investigations into the cause of death are currently ongoing as Chad Chronister from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is quoted by the BBC saying, “My heart aches for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson leaves behind, from his wife and children to the Buccaneers nation that adored him,”
“Mr Jackson was a devoted man who put his family and community above everything else.”
Initially, Jackson was reported by his family as missing on 10th February and after finding him, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office evaluated his condition as a missing persons report was cancelled.
According to the office, they found that Jackson’s body showed “no signs of trauma.”
Jackson retired from NFL in 2018, after 11 years in the game where he had played for the Chargers between 2005 to 2011 and the Buccaneers between 2012 to 2016 with a total of 57 touchdowns during his career.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear the terrible news regarding the loss of Vincent Jackson,” the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said in a statement.
“Vincent was a consummate professional who took a great deal of pride in his performance on and off the football field.
“Vincent was a dedicated father, husband, businessman and philanthropist, who made a deep impact on our community through his unyielding advocacy for military families, supported by the Jackson In Action 83 Foundation.”
