In a new live-action adaptation of the 2016 film Moana, Dwayne Johnson will play the same part.

“We are so excited and happy to announce that a live-action reimagining of ‘Moana’ is in the works,” Johnson said in a video announcing the project. Joined by his daughters, Johnson said that the project is still in the early stages. “It’s still very early in the process. There’s so much more work to be done. But until then, there is one more thing that I need to kick this journey off right. Girls do want to get that special thing that Daddy needs?” he continued as they brought him Maui’s staff. “Wow, you guys are daddy’s daughters. You are so strong.”

Johnson will also produce Moana under his Seven Bucks Productions label, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jared Bush, the original screenplay, is also collaborating, but there isn’t a director yet. Although the title character’s voice actress and executive producer, Auli’i Cravalho, is on board, it is unknown who will play her in the live-action adaptation.

The first movie came out in theaters in 2016 and made over $680 million in total revenue. Moreover, it received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film, but Zootopia won. There isn’t a confirmed release date for the remake yet.
