Ryan Coogler seems to be in the lead to reboot the popular X-Files television series.
The X-Files creator Chris Carter recently hinted to Coogler’s participation during a CBC program called On the Coast, according to the Verge.
“I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast,” Carter shared. “So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
Although the rumor hasn’t been confirmed, Coogler probably has intimate knowledge of what’s going on.
The possibility of an X-Files reboot has previously been hinted at. Carter first alluded to an animated version of the Fox television series, which aired for nine seasons starting in August 2020. (1993-02). Fox has committed to producing the potential television series The X-Files: Albuquerque, but the network has not officially given the project the go-ahead.
David Duchovny, who starred in the sci-fi series X-Files, expressed his opinions about a possible reboot of the show in an interview from last December.
“For me, it was always there’s no show unless it’s Chris and Gillian, so I don’t know,” Duchovny told ComicBook.com, referring to X-Files creator Chris Carter. “Personally, for me, the X-Files that I’m involved in consists of Chris Carter, myself, and Gillian, so I haven’t spent time trying to think about a different version of that, and I don’t know that I will.”
Coogler made his feature-length debut in 2013 with the independent film Fruitvale Station. With the success of Creed (2015), Black Panther (2018), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), Coogler has quickly become a huge star.
