Fan who attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic banned for 40 years

After a fan was found guilty of assaulting Sevilla goalie Marko Dmitrovic during a Europa League match, PSV Eindhoven banned him from the stadium for 40 years.

The 20-year-old male, who was already in the midst of a nationwide stadium ban and wasn’t supposed to be there, received a three-month prison term.

He was also prohibited from the Philips Stadium area for a period of two years.

The Netherlands club added that it will attempt to pursue financial damages against him.

Once Uefa initiated a disciplinary case against PSV as a result of the event, PSV can anticipate paying a large fine.

 

The pitch invader, who according to PSV entered the venue using a ticket purchased by a friend, was already serving a Dutch football association stadium ban that was in effect until 2026.

Towards the end of February, when the play-off second leg was coming to a close, he approached Serb Dmitrovic and hit him in the face. The man was wrestled to the ground by the former Charlton goalie, and stewards then escorted him away.

As Sevilla lost 2-0 on the night but advanced 3-2 overall, Dmitrovic was able to continue.
