Patrick Vieira sacked by Crystal Palace

Patrick Vieira, the manager of Crystal Palace, has been sacked following a 12-match losing streak.

Palace lost 1-0 to Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday, their third straight loss, and haven’t won a game since 2023.

Despite being in 12th place, they are only three points ahead of Bournemouth in 18th place, who still have a game remaining.

“It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made,” chairman Steve Parish said.

“Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.”

The 46-year-old Frenchman Vieira, who was hired before of the 2021–22 season, guided the Eagles to a 12th-place finish while garnering accolades for his attacking play.

They have only managed to score 21 goals in 27 games this season, trailing only bottom-of-the-table Southampton, Wolves, and Everton.

Before to losing to Brighton, Palace had gone three games without having a shot on goal.

Palace has only accrued five out of a possible 33 points, which is the fewest points of any Premier League team in 2023.

Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson, and Said Aigoun, three members of Vieira’s coaching team, have also departed the club, and the selection process for a new manager is currently underway.
