It is well known that Drake enjoys basketball. In fact, he is so devoted to it that he made a brief video in honor of LeBron James, the 38-year-old Lakers star who recently overtook Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the top spot on the all-time scoring record.

Drake begins the video, which was broadcast on NBA on TNT, by thanking LeBron for making history last night in Oklahoma City. He then explains that he had to go to Akron, Ohio to go back to where it all began.

“LeBron, what a legendary night in NBA history. You’re breaking the all-time scoring record,” Drake said. “And to honour that, I had to come back to the place that it all started: Akron, Ohio. Every journey has its beginnings.”

After Drake says “beginnings,” the video abruptly changes direction as the green screen behind him collapses, revealing that he is not in Ohio but rather in a club in Miami where there are many women.

Drake then confesses his lie while convincing the women standing behind him to congratulate LeBron on his success. On his Instagram stories, he also shared images of himself and LeBron over the years with the caption:

“Congratulations my brother @kingjames they probably will have something new to say tmrw but for now enjoy the praise which is like silence to us.”
