US President Joe Biden Says Covid Public Health Emergencies Will End May

The COVID-19 national and public health emergency declarations are expected to cease on May 11 for the USA according to the plan the Biden administration revealed to Congress on Monday.

According to CNN, the announcement comes in reaction to two House Republican legislation that demand an immediate stop to the emergency. According to a statement from the White House, “The wind-down would align with the Administration’s previous commitments to give at least 60 days’ notice prior to termination of the PHE.”

“To be clear, continuation of these emergency declarations until May 11 does not impose any restriction at all on individual conduct with regard to Covid-19,” the message continues. “They do not impose mask mandates or vaccine mandates. They do not restrict school or business operations. They do not require the use of any medicines or tests in response to cases of Covid-19.”

Americans may prepare for a lot of changes in the upcoming months by setting up an off-ramp. Without assistance from the government, the price of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine could rise to $130 per dose, according to the Associated Press. Free COVID tests conducted at home will disappear.
