Arsenal made a £60 million offer for midfielder Moises Caicedo, but Brighton rejected it.

The Premier League’s top team is eager to strengthen its roster after Mohamed Elneny suffered a training-related injury that could require a lengthy recovery.

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, does not want to endanger his side’s title chances by lack of players.

According to reports, Brighton had already rejected Chelsea’s £55 million offer for Caicedo, a 21-year-old.

The Seagulls sold Neal Maupay to Everton for £15 million, Yves Bissouma to Tottenham for £25 million plus add-ons, and Marc Cucurella to Chelsea for £60 million in the summer.

Leandro Trossard left them earlier this month to join Arsenal for an initial £21 million, thus Brighton do not have a financial incentive to sell Caicedo.

They also don’t want to sell the Ecuadorian international despite the fact that they are presently sixth in the standings and might climb up to fifth if they win their two games left against Tottenham.

Caicedo has 26 Premier League games, two goals, and a contract that lasts through 2025.

Though, negotiations are still ongoing, and it’s anticipated that Arsenal will make another bid. It’s unclear, however, whether Caicedo, who just switched agents, will attempt to leave the club before the transfer market ends on Tuesday night.
