Police in Barcelona have taken Brazil’s Dani Alves into custody on sexual assault accusations.
The 39-year-old former Barcelona full-back is accused of sexually assaulting a lady in a nightclub in Barcelona in December.
Alves has been detained and will face a judge’s questioning on Friday despite his denial of the accusation.
Over the course of two spells, he played 408 times for Barcelona. He was also a member of Brazil’s World Cup team in 2022.
The defender presently competes for Mexico’s Pumas UNAM.
The information was validated by Mossos d’Esquadra, a local police unit, to Reuters and AFP.
