Lewis Hamilton open to joining Sir Jim Ratcliffe bid for Manchester United

Lewis Hamilton asserts that he has spoken with Sir Jim Ratcliffe about joining forces to acquire Manchester United for $3.84 billion. The richest person in the UK, Sir Ratcliffe is also a co-owner of the Mercedes AMG Formula One team.

The Glazer family put the famed Premier League football club up for sale back in November, and Ratcliffe is probably interested in purchasing it. Previous remarks by Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, have sparked rumors of a potential alliance between the two English superstars.

The two were a part of a group that tried and failed to purchase Chelsea FC in 2022, ushering in the Boehly-Clearlake ownership era.

Lewis Hamilton asserts that even though Sir Ratcliffe hasn’t directly addressed the Manchester United buyout offer with him, the F1 world champion is intrigued by the idea of promoting black ownership in sports. He stated:

“I haven’t had a call from him asking if I want to be involved in [a United takeover bid] just yet but I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership – there is a lack of it in sports – and black equity. Again, there is a real lack of that.”
