Joao Felix, a forward for Atletico Madrid, is about to be loaned out to Chelsea for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old participated in the World Cup for Portugal and registered one goal in five games.
Arsenal and Manchester United have expressed interest in Felix, but it’s believed that he prefers to join Chelsea.
Felix became the fifth-most expensive player in history when Atletico paid Benfica £113 million for the youngster in 2019. He was then 19 years old.
Felix has occasionally impressed, but he hasn’t consistently lived up to expectations.
Owner Todd Boehly of the Blues is looking to add players to manager Graham Potter’s injury-riddled roster after the team lost 4-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday and dropped to 10th place in the Premier League.
Since being eliminated from the World Cup in the quarterfinals, Felix has made two appearances for Atletico.
On December 29, he scored in a 2-0 victory over Elche. On December 31, he played 73 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Barcelona.
In 20 games for Atletico this season, Felix has five goals and three assists.
