Didier Deschamps has extended his contract as France’s head coach to June 2026, and it is anticipated that he will continue in that position for a fourth World Cup.
France lost to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, where he led France to World Cup victories in 2018 and 2022.
France has also advanced to the quarterfinals of both the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Euros since the 54-year-old former Chelsea midfielder assumed leadership in 2012.
In 139 games as manager, Deschamps has 89 victories, 28 draws, and 22 defeats.
According to the France Football Federation, physical trainer Cyril Moine, goalkeeping coach Guy Stephan, and Franck Raviot will all continue to work with the national team.
Deschamps assisted France in winning the Nations League in 2021. He also helped France win the World Cup in 1998 as a player.
He was bound by his most current contract, which he signed in December 2019, until the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.
Before turning his attention to France’s qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which will start in June 2026 and be played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, he will now oversee France’s qualification campaign for the Euro 2024 in Germany.
