Michael B. Jordan Becomes Part Owner Of AFC Bournemouth

The English soccer team AFC Bournemouth now counts Michael B. Jordan as a partial owner.

The Black Knight Football Club, a partnership managed by American investor Bill Foley, had purchased the Premier League squad from its owner, Maxim Demin, according to a statement the club released on Tuesday.

Additionally revealed as joint owners are music entrepreneur Nullah Sarker and Jordan, who will work to promote the South Coast team known as The Cherries for their cherry red and black uniforms.

“AFC Bournemouth is Michael’s first foray into professional sports ownership, as he and Nullah will work closely with Bill in areas including global marketing and internationalisation of the club,” a statement from AFC Bournemouth read.

Foley, the owner of the Vegas Golden Knights ice hockey team, added: “I have tremendous respect for the passion and support the Bournemouth community shows for this club and believe that connection to the community is the foundation for success of any sports team.”

The ownership of Welsh non-league team Wrexham by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney was the subject of a previous documentary, so Jordan is not the first Hollywood celebrity to get involved in British soccer.

Although Bournemouth isn’t one of the established forces in English soccer, Demin funded a surge up the divisions that allowed them to play in the Premier League for the second half of the 2010s. The team was promoted earlier this year to the top division after being demoted in 2020.
