Aston Villa fans vote on new Club crest

Social media users have criticized Aston Villa’s new club crest design, mocking the Midlands team for “copying” Chelsea’s emblem.

Prior to their Carabao Cup match against Manchester United, Villa invited fans to vote for their favorite design. The winning logo was chosen by 77% of voters, and it was unveiled on Thursday.

But the new emblem, which will be used starting in the 2023–24 season, has since been mocked online after a few supporters compared it to Chelsea’s and scathingly described it as “awful.”

Villa claims that “a long period of fan interaction, artistic research, and crafting” went into their new look.

There were two selected designs, and the club’s supporters overwhelmingly (77%) chose the round crest that honors their 1982 European Cup victory as the winner.

It is now circular and bears the club’s lion in the blue center, with the words “Aston Villa” and the club’s founding year, 1874, written in claret around the edge.
