On Sunday, the Argentina Cup final turned into a spectacle as the centre referee dismissed 10 players from the match between Racing Club and Boca Juniors.
Racing Club won the Argentina Champions Trophy after defeating Boca Juniors 2-1 in extra time, but the game’s highlight was referee Facundo Tello.
Sebastian Villa of Boca and Johan Carbonero of Racing both received red cards in the fifth minute of stoppage time, according to Bein Sports, which sparked an intense period of play.
Following Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz’s game-winning goal in front of the Boca Juniors supporters, the home team had another six players dismissed in the following extra time.
World Cup-bound referee Facundo Tello sent straight red cards to Luis Advincula, Carlos Zambrano, Diego Gonzalez, and Dario Benedetto while also sending off two more players for receiving a second yellow.
Aside from the match winner Carlos Alcaraz and Catriel Cabellos, who were both handed their marching orders prior to the game’s conclusion, Racing Club also had two additional players dismissed on straight reds.
