Radja Nainggolan, a former midfielder for Cagliari and Roma, has stoked up controversy once more after being spotted smoking prior to Royal Antwerp’s match against Standard Liege.
The 34-year-old midfielder left Inter on a free transfer last year, leaving Italy for the first time in more than ten years, and joined the Belgian team. He committed to a two-year contract with Royal Antwerp and has caused controversy ever since, occasionally displaying flashes of his talent and other times disappearing during games.
Nainggolan was observed smoking on the bench before Royal Antwerp’s away match against Standard Liege, as noted by Alfredo Pedulla. Unsurprisingly, the club was unhappy and demoted the 34-year-old to the B team.
Nainggolan has not had a good time; he was reportedly arrested last week for drunk driving and with a suspended license. The event resulted in his release on bond.
