According to TMZ, former Nba player Ben Gordon was arrested on Monday at LaGuardia Airport after being accused of hitting his 10-year-old son in the head.
Around 8:45 p.m., Gordon and his son were waiting to board a flight to Chicago when the alleged abuse allegedly occurred. Gordon shouldn’t have been with his kid in the first place, according to police officials, as the boy was under a protection order against his father at the time of the event.
Gordon was arrested by Port Authority police when they barred him from getting on the aircraft. A pair of officers were slightly hurt as a result of the former NBA guard’s apparent resistance to arrest. Charges are still pending against him, according to The New York Post. Gordon’s aunt drove Gordon’s son to the Long Island Jewish Children’s Hospital for a checkup.
Gordon, a 39-year-old native of Mount Vernon, New York, won the NCAA Championship with UConn in 2004 and was selected third overall in the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. Averaging 15.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in his debut NBA season, Gordon made NBA history by being the first rookie to win the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
