Sebastien Haller, a striker for Borussia Dortmund, underwent surgery to remove a testicular tumor and he will be “out for a few months.”
The 28-year-old forward from the Ivory Coast received his diagnosis last week while the club was in Switzerland for preseason training.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “He had a successful operation last week.
“The operation went very, very well and he’s on the right track.”
A return date has not yet been set, Kehl continued, and treatment options are still being negotiated.
“Sebastien will be out for a few months but once we can be more precise about that we will communicate it.”
After a brief stint at West Ham, Haller made the 31 million euro move from Ajax to the Bundesliga team earlier this month.
